5 out of 5 stars good product at bargain price   June 24, 2008

After reading several bad reviews I had decided not to get it - even though, at the price, 10 cup size and strong engine power of 500 watts it seemed the best deal compared to other brands that cost twice as much, or even more.

Anyway, I had written it off until I happened to see a unit on display at Target and was able to touch it and inspect it for myself. It looked perfectly fine to me. The blade seemed thick and sturdy. I checked out how the lid opens and closes etc and couldn't find anything visibly wrong with it. Maybe you have to get used to it, and not use brute force on any parts, but it's not rocket science. So I ended up buying it.

When I tried it out at home I was careful not to force any parts. There are two safety features. The first one is that the lid needs to be locked. The second one is that the cup needs to be locked as well, with the handle aligned in the front (as seen in the product picture above). If it's not in that position it won't start!!! At first mine wouldn't start, and I thought I had bought a lemon - until I figured it out. (Yeah, I don't read product manuals either).

It's been only 2 days, but so far it's been working just fine. I don't know what kind of miracles other "more advanced" machines can perform, but I am happy with what this unit does for me: it chops up stuff!

Is it loud? I can only compare it to my Oster blender. It's less noisy than the blender. After a few uses I became more familiar with working the lid etc. I'll be using it a lot and should it break down anytime soon I guarantee I will back here posting about it. Until then, this one gets two thumbs up. It's a solid product and a bargain at this price.

5 out of 5 stars Don't understand why people aren't happy with this! It's great!   July 12, 2009

I think this is a fabulous food processor. I bought it at Target for something like $30 and have NEVER been disappointed with it. It is fast and powerful. It IS loud, but it's a food processor, so what do you want?
I think the safety latching system is a definite plus; it can be a bit annoying to have to be sure everything's snapped in place, but the learning curve is short and after you use it one or two times it's really easy. I think this is an excellent product and I highly recommend it!

5 out of 5 stars I don't understand the bad reviews -- I love mine   September 8, 2009

I have had this for 3 or 4 years now. I think I bought it at target on sale. I use this all the time. I mostly make pizza dough and pasta, but I also use it for veggies and hash browns or latkes. I also wash the blades and bowl in the dishwasher, and have had no problems or rusting out either. I am so satisfied with this, that I bought my sister one, except I got her the wide mouthed black and decker. I like the fact that it will not start unless the lid is on secure as well as the bowl. I can't understand how that is a complaint. Read and follow the directions if you choose to buy this product, and I believe you will be very happy with it for a long time.

4 out of 5 stars Not as bad as I thought   February 27, 2009

I wanted a food processor and researched them online. I knew that I should avoid this one. However, my boyfriend brought this home to me as a gift. I couldn't return it because he was SO excited that he got me something that I wanted. I was scared to use it and ready for diappointment. Luckily, I shouldn't have been. The plastic bowl is kind of flimsy but it hasn't broke. The motor is loud but I expected that with any food processor. The latch works fine but I can see that if forced it would break. My one gripe is that the spout isn't large enough. I hate having to chop things up to fit them in to be chopped. It defeats the purpose. I gave it a four instead of a five because of the smaller than desired spout and because I've had it less than a month. If it breaks anytime soon I will respond again.

4 out of 5 stars A great bargain!   May 10, 2008

I purchased this food processor on sale recently and really like it! I've used it to puree veggies and think it does a nice job. Perhaps it's not for heavy duty cooking, but I don't need it for that. I haven't used the chop or shred attachment yet, but definitely plan to! My only complaint is that it's pretty loud, but for $39.99, I'm very content!
