5 out of 5 stars I like it!   October 29, 2006

Hey, I really enjoy my nicer dicer, and I WOULD buy it again. One hint for using it, that they don't emphasize enough in the manual, but that I picked up on the infomercial: You HAVE to push quickly and firmly on the bowl right over the blades, and not just on the long handle that seems to be the intuitive place to push. This absolutely keeps the blades from bending and producing mush. A quick force, also cuts more cleanly than a slow one. Keeping peel sides down prevents mush, too. I love it enough, just for making fast, perfect, tiny dices of onion and peppers. The smaller the slices of onion you put in, the finer your dice. It is the dicing part that makes my eyes tear, so I don't mind making a few slices first and having the dicer make the perfect tiny cubes all self-contained in the bowl. My tomato dices are better than I can produce with a sharp knife. Be realistic, it IS a tomato. Skin side down, smaller slices than an entire half, and quick force on the bowl AND handle. No complaints on this product from me, and I am the first person to be judgemental when a gadget doesn't live up to my expectations, lol. I have a graveyard of gadgets I hate. This one is a keeper!

5 out of 5 stars I wouldn't be without one!   January 10, 2009

I have had my Nicer Dicer since they first came out. I wouldn't be without one and am now thinking about getting another one in case something happens to this one. I use mine for all types of veggies and fruits........onions, peppers, CELERY, potatoes, carrots (the minis), cucumbers, radishes, apples, cranberries, even nuts. The only reason I don't list tomatoes is that when I make salsa I use the canned diced tomatoes. Maybe I didn't prepared them right when I tried them with the Nicer Dicer, though. I find it saves me so much time even if I do have to slightly prepare the items to be diced. I quarter larger onions and cut peppers and celery to fit. Just be sure your items fit on the disc surface and don't "hang over" or else the top part can't come down as it should. I wouldn't try any other dicer because I am SOLD on this one!!

5 out of 5 stars The Best Chopper I've used   December 18, 2009

I owned at least 4 vegetable/onion choppers. This one is by far the best. The other ones broke after couple of months. It is also very easy to clean.

4 out of 5 stars Pretty cool gadget   August 11, 2009

While reading this, realize I broke one of my blades and I'm seriously considering buying it again...
I love this product. I mainly use it for french fries and dicing onions. You can't put a whole onion on there, I don't think the blads are strong enough, you do need to cut many things into quarters, but if you SERIOUSLY cry when chopping onions you know cutting into quarters will be fine if you can hurry up and dice the entire thing with 4 easy pushes. I usually slice red-skin potatoes for fries, which tend to be smaller than brown ones, and I don't have to quarter those. You should remember to chop with skin side down, that helps, and also run the blade mechanism under water first before you slice anything for the first time, that also makes it easier. Don't use on a table that wobbles, that makes it more difficult, and you need to apply even pressure on the bowl, don't hesitate with the push. Sounds like a lot but once you get comfortable with the item you'll see it works great. Really super firm produce/veggies shouldn't be used, thats how I broke mine, trying to make sweet potato fries, sweet potatoes are way to firm for this gadget. Does it have flaws, yes. No consumer product is perfect. But I had mine for 2 years before I broke it, and again, I'm planning to purchase it again. It is a little difficult to clean, get something with a brush on the end to scrape onion skin off the blades. Hope this helps.

3 out of 5 stars Not bad   March 15, 2006

Works great cutting potatos into french fries and chopping onions into tiny pieces. Horrible with tomatoes; it doesn't cut through the peel well at all and left my counter soaked with juice. Worked well on apples. You have to cut the pieces small enough to fit under the blade, and by then you might as well keep cutting it with the knife. I bought it to save time during "taco night" but found it to get in the way more than anything and ended up tossing it aside while I chopped the rest by hand. If you only want it for potatos and onions then it's worth it. Other than that, don't waste your time or money.
