Product Description Use the Thin Slicing Disc for raw vegetables like potatoes, carrots and root vegetables. Makes perfect uniform slices so you can turn out luscious gratins and layer casseroles, beautiful salads and garnishes and wonderful looking desserts. Works with 14-cup models.About Cuisinart... In 1973, Carl Sontheimer introduced the world to its first Cuisinart food processor. His design, a creative adaptation based on an elaborate industrial blender, was soon widely produced in France and became indispensable in homes across the world. Since then, Sontheimer's original appliance has evolved, and additional Cuisinart products have been added, contributing to the original collection of time-saving tools used by professional chefs and home cooks alike. Even after 25 years, Cuisinart is still one of the most recognizable brands in quality kitchenware.
Amazon.com Review The thin slicing disc makes easy work of slicing onions for onion soup, potatoes for gratins, or apples for tarts. It also works well slicing cucumbers for salads, slicing lemons or limes for fruit punches and other beverages, and for slicing pepperoni for pizza--or any other task for which you need large quantities of even slices. The raised shelf behind the cutting blade prevents slices from colliding with the disc itself, providing perfect, uniform slices every time. The disc slots easily onto the detachable disc stem, but be sure to handle it carefully, as these blades are very sharp. --Jennifer Harris

| Customer Reviews: Perfect for potatoes January 20, 2008 Garline J. Wheatley (Austin, TX) 5 out of 5 found this review helpful
The Thin Slicing Disc is not included with the 14 Inch Cuisinart Custom Food Processor, but if you like American fried potatoes or home-made potato chips you will want to buy this disc. It makes perfect slices in seconds.
Couldn't be better December 7, 2009 Carolyn Rampone (Plantation, FL USA) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
With this handy blade, why would anyone attempt a super thin slice with a knife? Cuisinart makes the job so much easier and the results look professional. My kids love homemade potato chips and my previous option was a mandolin. The slicing results are similar but this blade cuts the time in half ( probably less) which gives you a fresher potato. In seconds you have an entire batch ready to wash and fry up. The thin slicing blade is not just for potatoes, obviously. You're limited only by your imagination. It would be wonderful if Cuisinart included all their blades in the original purchase but this one is worth adding to your collection. You can't really go wrong with Cuisinart.
Perfect accessory for 14 cup Cuisinart food processor January 16, 2010 E. A. Getchell (Palma Sola, Florida) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I recently purchased a Cuisinart DLC-2014N PowerPrep Plus 14-Cup Capacity Food Processor, White which I really love. The food processor is perfect for all of my needs in raw vegan food preparation. A 4-mm slicing disc was included with the food processor but I also need a thinner slice so I quickly purchased this accessory Cuisinart DLC-042TX Stainless Steel Thin Slicing Disc 2-mm and put it right to work. It is the perfect accessory for this wonderful machine and I couldn't be more delighted with the results.
I make my own sauerkraut in a 7.5 liter fermentation crock, so I need about 12 pounds of shredded cabbage for each batch. That's a lot of shredding, too much shredding in fact for me to do by hand. Some kitchen tasks, especially those requiring my very sharp mandoline, are just too challenging for me with my disability. With my PowerPrep and the 2mm slicing blade I get perfect shredded cabbage in a fraction of the time it takes me to do the same work with the mandoline.
I use this thin blade for shredding other veggies for slaw and also nice, uniformly thin slices of veggies and fruits for making homemade chips in my dehydrator.
The disc is pricey but worth the expense. Amazon didn't carry it so I had to search through the third party sellers. It does pay to shop around with attention to shipping costs.
Didn't fit June 2, 2010 Jim JR. (RI USA) Tried this blade on 3 different styles of 11 cup cuisinart food processors. This unit didn't fit any of them.
